STDI - Strategic Thinking Development and Implementation

Scientific and technological advancements in today’s industry require a constant fulfilment of precise compliance and quality standards, every day more demanding due to a growing competition between involved parties, due to the increasing use of digitalization, and due to day-after-day more restrictive sustainability requirements. Consequently, modern managers and specialized operators’ decisions along with their subsequent actions have to consider strategic scenarios of continuous innovation and change. The development and the implementation of a strategy pertains every human decision, strongly impacted by the complexity found in modern working environments (e.g., industrial scenarios). The etymology of the term “strategy” derives from the Classic and Byzantine Greek (330 A.D.) “strategos” that means “general,” often associated to military roles addressed to manage long-term missions and/or heterogeneous groups of people and/or resources. Transferring this concept to nowadays’ reality, it gives the idea of a complex management dealing with a big amount of information and data in a relatively extended period of time. A long-term organizational direction and scope, trying to satisfy stakeholder’s expectations through the shaping of resources and competences within its environment. The aim of the course is to make attendees build solid competencies in strategic thinking, strategy development, strategy implementation, and strategic leadership in order to optimize the management of an organization or of a project, targeting the attainment of a required performance. Participants will also develop competencies of critical analysis, using state-of-the-art tools and techniques. During every session they will be encouraged to use their own experiences to enrich discussions, critical thinking and reflections.
